Simple Exercises That Can Be Done To Potentially Reduce Injuries And Increase Performance

Here is a great video where three of our ITPA professionals (Dean Hollingworth, CTPS, MTPS; Jonny Fraser, CTPS, MTPS and Trevor McPherson, CTPS) provide over 200 adult competitive tennis players with some important exercises that can be incorporated into weekly programs. This was a presentation at the Tennis Congress. Watch this video to get some ideas on how best to perform these exercises.

How Much Strength Does A Young Tennis Athlete Need?

Reading some of the latest sports performance research focused on the young athlete, the ITPA research team came across a brand new study providing some very valuable information for the TPT and CTPS. If you work with young tennis athletes, one of the biggest questions that tennis parents and coaches both have is when should young athletes start strength training and how much weight (resistance) should young kids lift? Here is some data to help support your recommendations for when to start strength training and how much weight a young athlete can lift.

Even the Great Ones Can Get Better: Learning From Lance Armstrong

The video clip below shows Lance Armstrong working out before his 2009 comeback to compete in the tour de France, and you can see the work ethic and discipline that has made Lance one of the greatest athletes in any sport in the last few decades. The ITPA was sent this video by a great strength coach who was really upset by what he saw.
